Burton E. Storey, 91, of Zion, IL, passed away on January 28, 2016 with his loving family by his side.
Burt was born May 1, 1924 in Zion to Ralph and Ruth Storey. He served in the United States Navy as a cook in World War II. Burt married Carol Bullivant on July 24, 1948 at the Zion Hotel. Burt owned and operated Storey’s Menswear for many years. He was a long time member and usher at Christ Community Church. Burt enjoyed collecting antiques and loved to cook. He was an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed cross country skiing, biking and hiking in Door County, WI.
Burt is survived by his wife of 67 years Carol Storey; children Peggy (Dennis) Moutray of Austin, TX, Lana (Stephen) Mack of Miami, FL, and Jim (Lynda) Storey of Kenosha, WI; grandchildren Stacia (Koleman) Uresti of Austin, TX, Brian Moutray of Austin, TX, Stephanie (Danny) Skelley of Chicago, IL, and Bethany and Megan Storey of Kensosha, WI; great grandchildren Cade Hamilton and Myka Uresti; brother Richard Storey of Zion, IL; sister-in-law Jan Storey of Zion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; and ten siblings.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, with Pastor Ken Langley, officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:30 until the time of the service at the church. Memorial donations to Camp Zion have been suggested.
