C.V. Humphres

C.V. "Charlie" Humphres, 80, of Zion, IL, formerly of Red Bay, AL, went peacefully to the Lord with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Hospice House, Pleasant Prairie, WI. He was born March 19, 1934, in Red Bay, AL, and married Nellie Jackson on July 28, 1956, in Zion, IL. C.V. formerly worked in the Zion Cookie Factory before retiring from Abbott Laboratories after 30 years of employment. Following retirement, he worked for the NAPA store in Waukegan. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 58years, Nellie; children, Kathy Humphres of Zion, IL, Tammy Humphres of Zion, IL, Larry (Leslie) Humphres of Kenosha, WI and Scott (Jennifer) Humphres of Pleasant Prairie, WI; grandchildren, Kyle, Sam, Courtney, Kendall, and Rena; sisters, Mary (Roy) Collins and Eloise Lee , both of Red Bay, AL; many nieces and nephews and other family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lula Humphres; and sisters, Edna Stanfield and Marlene Bolton. Visitation will be held Friday, September 12, 2014 from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL, with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Private interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. Memorial donations are suggested to the Hospice Alliance, Pleasant Prairie, WI.
