Carl Michael Upchurch

1948 — February 13, 2021

Carl Michael Upchurch, 72, of Pleasant Prairie, WI passed away peacefully on February 13, 2021. Carl was a previous resident of Wake Forest, NC, Bethesda, MD and Zion, IL. He attended Zion Benton Township high school, graduating with the class of 1968 and was employed by National Institute of health. Carl moved to Pleasant Prairie in 2017 from Wake Forest NC to be close to family. He was an avid coin collector and gardener and especially loved taking care of flowers. While he never had children of his own, he took great pride in the accomplishments of his niece and nephew and great-nieces and nephews. He also loved to share the legacy of his Aunt Ouida and all she accomplished serving our country as a captain in the Navy. Carl was a people person and could naturally strike up a conversation with anyone at anytime. He especially loved the people and friendships he made at St. Catherine’s Commons and Prairie Ridge Senior apartments. Living close to family allowed him to spend time with his niece and nephew and their children. He enjoyed countless theater productions and shows, soccer games, concerts, awards ceremonies and graduations. He cherished the holiday gatherings and was always the first to take pictures with everyone. Carl is survived by his brother, Bruce (Shirley) Upchurch; niece, Crystal (Chris) Hall; nephew, Kyle (Keri) Upchurch; great-nieces and nephews, Cameron Hall, Colin Hall, Caitlyn Hall, Alannah Upchurch, Braeyah Upchurch and Myah Upchurch. He was preceded in death by his father, Tasker Upchurch; and aunt, and adoptive mother, Ouida Upchurch.
