Carlton “Scottie” Scott Edwards of Zion, Illinois, at 59 years old, has severed his silver cord on Monday, February 24th, 2025. He succumbed to a heart attack.
On March 27th, 1965, Scottie was born to the Hulmes’ in Richmond, Virginia, and later adopted by the Edwards’. He grew up as an only child in Crystal Lake, and excelled in both his studies and sports. He enlisted in the Army at 18, and served in Germany during the Cold War. He filled his time after his service with many jobs, from driving trucks, to construction, to serving his community as a counsellor for his fellow veterans. He was a well traveled man, residing in California, Georgia, Arizona, and Florida at various points in his life.
Scottie had married twice; To Carrie with whom he had a son, Andrew, and to Virginia with whom he had two more children, Seth and Alexis.
Scottie took great interest in a variety of topics, from philosophy, religion, genealogy, math, and science to tabletop gaming, computer gaming, and music. He was a deeply spiritual man, and kept his bible close at hand. He was very generous and giving with both his heart and mind.
Scottie is survived by his sons Seth Edwards and Alexis Edwards. He was preceded by his parents, his second wife, Virginia Edwards.
A visitation will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. followed by a service at 12:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, Illinois.
