Carroll E. Beguhn

Carroll E. Beguhn, 99, passed away at home surrounded by family in Zion, IL on April 20, 2025.

Carroll was born December 2, 1925 in Eau Claire, WI. He grew up in Elk Mound, WI. He went to Aggie High School for 2 years and then graduated from Menomonie High School. Carroll married Marlys Dennis on May 21, 1947 at Peace Lutheran in Menomonie, WI. He found work at the Great Northern RR, before moving to Zion, IL in 1960. Where he found work at North Shore Gas Company. He was a member of Our Savior’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Carroll formed the 30 and over, and the 50 and over baseball leagues through the park district. He played in the Senior Olympics games in Utah. He played softball until he was 85 years old, and played volleyball until he was 97 years old. Carroll enjoyed pickleball, joking with people, and doing Sudoku. He also loved dogs and always had some treats in his pocket ready to give away to any friendly pup.

Carroll is survived by his wife, Marlys J. Beguhn; children, Terry Beguhn, Lynda (Marc) Romero, and Beckie (Tom) Pencak; grandchildren, Shawn (Jill) Beguhn, Jackie (Chris) Wasmer, Stacia Haase, Nathan Beguhn, Marc (Kristi) Romero, Taryn Romero, Tiffany (Steve) Wilson, Nicholas (Luis) Pencak, Shannon Pencak, Rheanna (Andy) Rasico; nine great-grandchildren; and seven bonus great-grandchildren; niece, Vicki Dueringer; nephew, Mickey Beguhn, and many cousins.

Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Clara Beguhn; brother, Theodore Beguhn; grandson, Shannon Pencak, and sister-in-law, Laura Beguhn.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1800 23rd street Zion, IL, at 10:00a.m. with a memorial service to follow.
