Catherine A. Gourley (nee, Pempek), 93, of Zion, IL, died on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at the Westmoreland Nursing Center, Lake Forest, IL.
Catherine was born November 25, 1919, in Oxley, MO. She married her late husband, William T. Gourley on August 1, 1942, in New London, CT. Her main life's vocation was as a Registered Nurse. Catherine was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church in Beach Park where she belonged to the Ladies Club. Other memberships include the Southport Quilters Guild, Lake County Association for Home and Education, Lake County Art League, Military Officers Association of Illinois, and International 4-H Youth Exchange.
Catherine is survived by her children, Tom (Kathy, nee Kugel) Gourley, Paula (Frank) Reinier, Mark Gourley, and Kim (Sedg) Scammon; grandchildren, Steven (Danielle) Gourley, Manya Reinier, Andre (Jeremy) Pettit, and Eric Reinier; and great-grandchildren, Prism Reinier, Noah Gourley, Link Reinier, Wyatt Gourley, and Gretta Gourley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1993; and brothers, Hank Pempek, Albert Pempek, and Carl Pempek.
Visitation will be Friday, December 21, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park. Interment will follow at Ft. Sheridan Cemetery, Highwood, IL. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
