Charles Brown

Charles "Charlie" William Brown, 87, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2014, at Ridgewood Care Center in Racine, WI. Charlie was born February 22, 1927, to Charles and Carrie (Evans) Brown. He met Lola (Schmidtke) Brown and raised two children, Dennis and Nancy. Charlie was a house painter in his early years and a bus driver for over 25 years; first for Skyline Transportation and then for Township High School District #113 for 20 years. He retired in 2001. Charlie was a collector of many things. He loved selling his merchandise at numerous flea markets. He enjoyed playing Santa each Christmas, listening to music, antique cars, traveling and helping out his friends. He had a unique sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew him. Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Nancy Bryant, Eldridge, Iowa; son, Dennis (Janet) Brown, Burr Ridge, IL; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer and Sarah Bryant, and Michelle and Matthew Brown; nephews, Rory Shutler and Gary (Sue) Shutler; nieces, Karen (J D) Melvis and Linda (Mark) Ehlers; special longtime friend, Karen Unrein and son, Ermie; plus numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Brown; and sister, Lois Shutler. Visitation will be Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL, with a Celebration of Life Service at 4:00 p.m.
