Charles "Charlie" Hickman

1982 — January 25, 2021

Charles “Charlie” Ray Hickman, 38, of Kenosha, WI, passed away on January 25, 2021. Charlie was born December 22, 1982 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, IL, and was brought home from the hospital in a Christmas stocking on an unseasonably warm Christmas Eve. Charlie graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 2000. He lived in various places including California, Oklahoma, Florida, Boston, and most recently, Kenosha. Charlie worked as a machinist at the Hinz Company in Franklin, Wisconsin. Charlie loved supporting those he cared about and attended their events whenever he could, whether it was supporting a friends band or an art show. He had a heart of gold and was a source of support for the friends and younger cousins who looked up to him. He was a “funcle” and enjoyed fishing with his nephews, he had a knack for creating funny photoshopped pictures of himself in unique situations, which was a source of amusement. His friends and family will always remember his entertaining spirit which including riding his unicycle; his caring heart and his gift of being a good listener. He is survived by his parents, Esther and Otis Hickman, and Carlos and Michelle Whitlock; brother, Jerry (Stephanie) Hickman; sister, Amanda (Chris) Furno; and nephews, Aiden and Leo Hickman; and aunts and uncles, Anita Hickman-Rivera, Owen (Cyndi) Hickman, Sherry (Marlon) Hagen, Charlotte Bailey, Brenda Briggs, and Glen Whitlock; and many cousins and a large circle of friends who were like family to him. He was preceded in death by two grandmothers, Mary DeBoer, and Dorothy Hickman; and a grandfather, Jerry Whitlock. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for you to show your support for something Charlie would have enjoyed. Show your support locally: shop small, enjoy a cocktail at your favorite establishment, or support a local band or artist. All acts of kindness are appreciated.
