Charles B. "Charlie" Kegley, 94, of Zion, IL, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 28, 2014, at home.
He was born June 23, 1920, in Bryant, WI, and was the last surviving member of the Elton Elementary School in Elton, WI. Charles was a member of Northpoint Christian Church in Winthrop Harbor, IL. He retired from American Motors in Kenosha, WI, and was a member of the United Auto Workers. Charles was an outgoing person and a friend to many.
Survivors include his children, Charlotte (Bob) Johnson of Beach Park, IL, Daniel (Rebecca "Becky") Kegley of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Robert F. Kegley of IL, Diana Leech of Carbondale, IL, Michael (Pam) Kegley of Menomonee, WI; step-children, Christine Gann of Waukegan, IL, and April Myrick of TX; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; many dear friends; special friend, Ann Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Charles and Hettie Kegley; first wife, Pearl (nee, White) Kegley; second wife Rosemary Kegley; son, Charles Kegley Jr.; step-daughter, Joann Prentice; brother, Frank Kegley; and sisters, Lutisia Kegley, Mae Michaels, Nellie Powers, and Grace Cathman.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 2 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL, with Pastors Harold and Steve Brown, officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
