Charlie "Red" Houston, 87, of Zion, IL died on Friday, November 30, 2012 unexpectedly at home.
He was born September 10, 1925 in Marietta, MS. He moved to Kenosha in 1950 and to Zion in 1967 when he married Phyllis Graham of Zion. She preceded him in death in 2006 after 38 years of marriage. Charlie was a member of Meadowridge Baptist Church of Zion. He retired in 1987 from Eaton Dynamatic in Kenosha after 37 years. He was a 50 year member of Unity Lodge #367, Kenosha, and was a Veteran of WWII having served with the United States Army in Japan as a Medic.
Survivors include children Cheryl (EJ) Falstad of Beach Park, IL and Craig (Heidi) Houston of Kenosha, WI; grandchildren Jake Houston, Madeline Houston, Charlie Houston, and Gunnar Falstad; one sister Robbie McDaniel of Booneville, MS; and a niece Mary Ann Busby of Pontotoc, MS.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 5, 2012, from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, where masonic services will be held. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 6th, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Michael Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Millburn Cemetery, Old Mill Creek, Illinois. Memorial donations to Baptist Children's Home and Family Services, 949 County Road 1300 N, Carmi, IL 62821 have been suggested.
