Cheryl Lynn Stare

Cheryl Lynn Stare (nee Kness), 56, of Zion, IL went to her Heavenly Home on Friday, July 17, 2015 at The Grove At The Lake in Zion after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer. Cheryl was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on June 4, 1959, graduated from ZBTHS in 1977. She was active in Christ Community Church, divorce recovery group, Passion Play and wherever she was needed. She also belonged to the Christian Motorcycle Club and the American Legion Auxiliary # 865. She married her soul mate Ron Stare on May 29, 2005. She worked for 26 years at Kelso-Burnett Company. Her loving family include her children, Tara (Wes) Snow of IA, Ed (Tiffany Hampton) Hanlon of Zion, IL; grandchildren, Jared Hanlon, Claryssa Snow, and Madison Hampton-Rogers; mother, Carolyn (the late E. James) Kness; sisters, Wanda (the late Dan) Whittington, and LuAnn (Terry) Whittington; brother, Jim Kness; mother-in-law, Shirley (the late Walter) Stare; brothers-in-law, Ray (Dawn) Stare and Rodney (Christine) Stare; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Stare; first husband, Edgar Hanlon Jr.; father, E. James Kness; and grandparents, Dan and Eleanor (Kratz) Heiser and Cloid and Margaret (McNab) Kness. A special heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Midwestern Regional Medical Center as well as The Grove At The Lake for being so friendly and helpful. Also to the many friends and family who prayed, visited, and spent their evenings with her. A visitation will be held Friday, July 24, 2015 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, IL. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family would greatly be appreciated.
