Christopher Lee Avila, 44, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, died on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Highland Park Hospital, after an eight year battle with Diabetes. He was born December 27, 1968 in Great Lakes, IL. Christopher attended Christ Community Church and was baptized on August of 2013 by Pastors Langley and McDowell at Northpoint Beach at Lake Michigan. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed his motorcycles, and loved being involved in his own kid's sporting events as their number one fan, often helping them train for various events. Survivors include his wife Cari (nee Keiler) Avila; children Kiel Weiss, Alec Pierson, Christopher Avila Jr., and Madison Avila; his father Abel Avila; his mother Jimmie K. Jester; siblings Duane (Michelle) Avila and Travis Avila; two nieces Marissa and Riley Avila; and one nephew Duane Avila Jr. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Bill and Louise Adams; paternal grandparents Angela & Maximo Avila: two uncles Robert and Eldon Adams; and one aunt Billie Young. A visitation will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, IL, followed by a Celebration of Life memorial service at 7:00 p.m., Pastor Mike McDowell officiating.
