Clarence Liddle

Clarence "Clem" "Clarey" Liddle, 85, of Zion, died on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion. He was born May 8, 1922 in Zion. Clarence was a longtime member of Grace Missionary Church where he served in several capacities. He was a also a Veteran of World War II, in the Pacific Theater of operation, where he played coronet in the military band and assisted the medics in their duties. He retired in 1980 from Davis Heating Company of Kenosha after 30 years. Clarence was a 50 year member of the Wisconsin Sheet Metal Workers Union and he was a die-hard Cub fan. Survivors inlcude his wife, Rachel, who he married October 3, 1942; children, Deborah (Mark) Knowles and Kathleen (Robert) Brynolf, both of Rockford, Illinois, Martha (Robert) Peterson of Gurnee, Illinois, and Douglas (Audrey) Liddle of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren, Jonathan (Cherryl), Julie, and Jacob Knowles, Christopher (Sarah) and Zachary Brynolf, Erik and Kirsten Peterson, and Megan and Joshua Liddle; seven great-grandchildren, Abbey and Allison Brynolf and Andrew, Treena, Sarah, Erin, and Jonah Knowles; one brother, Jim Liddle of Tucson, Arizona; and six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jonathan Brynolf; his sisters-in-law, Pearl Liddle and Evelyn Ayer; and his brother-in-law, Vernon Ayer. Visitation will be Friday, December 7, 2007, from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. at Grace Missionary Church, 1415 27th Street, Zion. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m., Pastor Doug Carlson officiating. Interment will follow at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago. Memorial donations to Grace Missionary Church have been suggested.
