G.C. "Cliff" Oathout, 90, of Zion, IL, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at home surrounded by his loved ones. Cliff was born July 1, 1919, in Bonnie, IL. He married Marjorie Swarthout on November 26, 1970, in Alma, IL. Cliff retired from the Zion Post Office after about 35 years of service. He served with the United States Army in World War II and was a member of the Zion American Legion. Cliff loved his family dearly. Other interests included golfing and fishing. He was also very handy at fixing things. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Marjorie; daughters, Shari (Shayne) Ryerson of Front Royal, VA, and Debra (Eugene) Stocker of Pleasant Prairie, WI; granddaughters, Heather Baldwin (Philipp Lüders), of Den Haag, Netherlands; and Robin (Robert) Woznica of Forest Park, IL; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Bobby Jr. and Cameron Woznica, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael; his father and mother; and three sisters and three brothers. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday , April 26, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Lakeview Church, 1821 Sheridan Rd, Zion, IL, with Pastor Les Martin, officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at Bethel Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, IL. Visitation will be Sunday, April 25, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Memorial donations are suggested to Lakeview Church.
