Courtney Hamlet

Courtney Nicole Hamlet of Zion, Illinois passed away, April 12, 2025, Libertyville, Illinois. Courtney was one of middle child born to Edcur Hamlet Sr. and Doris Hamlet on April 16, 1966 in Waukegan, Illinois. Courtney was a very active member of the Christ Church of the Apostolic Message.

As a young woman, Courtney earned her associate’s degree in Computer Science from Control Data Institute in Chicago IL. A milestone she worked hard to achieve and remained incredibly proud throughout her life. Her most treasured role was being a Mother and Nana to her daughter Kache’ and Grand Daughters Tekoah and Tekhana, who were her greatest joy and most cherished accomplishments!

Beyond her professional achievements, Courtney was most known and loved for her generous spirit and unwavering honesty. She was the kind of person who would tell you the truth—even when it was hard—and offer her shoulder to cry on without hesitation. Always willing to lend a hand, she shared whatever she had and opened her heart to everyone around her.

Courtney will be missed and remembered by one daughter, Kache' Hamlet; three sisters, Norma Echevarria (Br. Doel), Bridget Erganian, Weynoka Hamlet - Johnson (Eric Sr.); aunts, Mattie Jewel Hutch, Debra (Debbie) Hutch; nephews, John Erganian V, Kristopher Young, Eric Johnson Jr., Nicholas Echevarria, Doel Echevarria Jr.; nieces, Zipporah Hayes (Narai), Tanaya Loonsfoot, Zhamari Johnson, Raleisha Hamlet, Kayla Young, Stephanie Jones.

Courtney Hamlet was dearly loved and will be remembered by loved ones and two very special grandchildren , Tekoah Hamlet - Duffie and Tekhana Hamlet - Duffie. Courtney was loved by her sisters and brothers in the Lord, members of Christ Church of the Apostolic Message, godsons, John Erganian V and Abel Wroten.

Courtney was preceded in death by her parents, Edcur Hamlet Sr. and Doris Hamlet; brother, Edcur "Tyke" Hamlet Jr; nephew, John Erganian IV.
