Cynthia Grace (McKinney) Pracht was born to George Monroe McKinney and Nell Rose McKinney at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois on June 28, 1957. She died at home in Zion, Illinois at the age of 67 on Saturday, January 11, 2025. Her loving husband, Bruce Pracht, cared for her with complete devotion to the very end. Cindy is survived by her father, who is 98 years old and lives in Zion, her brother, Steven George McKinney (Diane) of Birmingham, Alabama, her sister, Amy Suzanne McKinney Palmer (Curt) of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and her devoted husband Bruce Pracht of Zion, Illinois. Her nieces, Meridith Elise McKinney Satterfield and Evelyn Diane McKinney Hill, both of Birmingham, Alabama, and Stephanie Grace McKinney Newton and Suzanna Rose McKinney, both of Nashville, Tennessee, and Lauralei Suzanne Palmer of Kenosha, Wisconsin and nephews Steven Frederick Palmer and Bradley George Palmer, and many other relatives and friends also mourn her passing. Cindy had a special relationship of love and support with her cousins Charol and Sara Grace Tuggle, who will miss her greatly.
Cindy graduated from Zion public schools, Knox College, and the specialized and graduate nursing programs at Rush University/Presbyterian Saint Luke's Hospital. She had a bachelor's degree in nursing and was a Registered Nurse. She invested the great majority of her nursing career at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion, where she served in positions of increasing responsibility, including serving as the hospital's expert in compliance with federal medicare and medicaid patient care regulations. In addition to her unique skill as a nurse, Cindy was a very talented musician. She played piano very well. She played flute extremely well. But her voice was angelic. She was a classic soprano, with clear and very rich tones and a range that seemed unlimited.
Cindy became a follower of Jesus Christ as a young woman. Her faith and trust in Him was a very personal matter and she went from this life in complete confidence that her eternal life would be with Him. On October 11, 2008, Cindy married Bruce Pracht in a beautiful ceremony in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Deeply devoted to each other, they did everything together. As Cindy's health began to curtail her activities and abilities, Bruce assumed more responsibility around the house and for Cindy's personal health and welfare. For the last few years, Bruce has been completely committed to Cindy's care, for which she was extremely grateful. She died still deeply in love with him and knowing his love for her.
