David Wheatley

1929 — July 3, 2008

David Hayes Wheatley Sr., 79, a fifty-four resident of Beach Park and loving husband of Stephanie Wheatley, passed away after a long battle with diabetes. David was born June 8, 1929 in Bardstown, Kentucky and came to North Chicago in 1947. He worked for A&P Tea Company for thirty-nine years as a meat cutter, manager and District Manager. He retired as a meat cutter from Great Lakes Commissary after 12 years of service. He was a charter member of Our Lady of Humility Church and was a member of Zion-Benton Moose Lodge#667 since 1954. He embraced life and has had an impact on many, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Beside his wife of fifty-nine years, Stephanie, he is survived by his son, David H. Wheatley Jr. of San Jose, California; granddaughter, Jennifer Cody; his daughter, Colleen F. Wheatley-Hendrickson of Beach Park; hiss granddaughter, Dawn (Jose) Hernandez of Lake Villa; great-grandchildren, Nick, Sam and Anthony Hernandez, grandson Daniel (Heather) Hendrickson of Beach Park and great-grandson Lucas Hendrickson; his brother, Charles R. (Martha) Wheatley of Louisville, Kentucky; and his sisters Faye (Melvin) Ferry, Patsy Ann Bush and Judith Carol (John) Winters, all of Louisville, Kentucky. David was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Monica Wheatley; his brothers, Thomas P. and Kenneth Wheatley; sisters, Frances Murley and Jackie Sue Waller both of Louisville, Kentucky; and his daughter-in-law, Lois Wheatley of San Jose, California. A memorial service will be held on August 9, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park.
