David A. Willems, 67, of Waukegan, IL, died on Friday, May 30, 2008, at home. He was born February 25, 1941, in Kenosha, WI, to Joseph and Martha (nee Tiechert) Willems.
He graduated in 1959 from Central High School in Salem, WI. For many years he was involved in Boy Scout Troop 55 and he coached Little League baseball. David retired from Abbott Labs in March of 1999 after 33 years. He loved music, fishing, traveling, and the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Charlotte (nee Culver) Willems; two sons, Christopher Willems of Sale, WI, and Jason Willems of Waukegan, IL; his adored grandchildren, Hannah and Tyler; a sister, Mary Lu Schmidt of Kenosha; brother-in-law, Douglas Culver; mother-in-law, Helen Culver; sisters-in-law, Betty Joseph, and Mary Jane McCoy; and many nieces and nephews. Dove loved his family and friends and will be missed very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Martha Willems; brothers, Joseph, and Paul Willems; sisters, Betty Thomsen, and Patricia Nelson; brothers-in-law, Richard Culver, and Marty Joseph; and his father-in-law, Charles Culver.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 4, 2008, from 11:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 4, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cogdon Funeral Home with Robert Thomas officiating. Burial will be private later. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to either S.T.A.R. Hospice of Vista Health, Brett Favre Forward Foundation, or charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
