Delores I. Schild

Delores Ida Schild passed away in Zion, IL on April 26, 2016 at the age of 86 due to complications of diabetes and leukemia. She was born on July 6, 1929 in Sheboygan, WI to Louis and Frieda Wendland and married Kurt Henry Schild Jr. in September 1948. The couple had three children while living in Wisconsin. In 1965, they brought their family to Illinois and settled in Beach Park. Delores was employed in the cafeteria at Zion Benton Township High School for many years and was a member of the Women of the Moose. She also was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Waukegan, IL. Throughout the years, Delores loved to dance and socialize with many of her dear friends. She also enjoyed knitting and created many beautiful sweaters for herself and family. Delores lived in Kenosha, WI for the last 20 years. She is survived by her sister Lorraine Reed of Sheboygan, WI; two sons Randy (Karen) Schild of Ingleside, IL and Kurt (Kathy) Schild III of Wadsworth, IL; one daughter Jill (Ray) Hendrickson of Ingleside, IL. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Justin Schild, Jessica Villalobos, Heather Mueller, Joanna Villalobos, Kurt Schild IV, Jonathan Schild, Tiffany Hendrickson, Kim Hendrickson; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 nephews; and long-time friend Jack Reitenbach. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years in 1989. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL with Rev. Jeff Koth, officiating. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Waukegan would be appreciated.
