Don Tollefsen

1920 — October 20, 2006

Don Tollefsen ,86, a lifelong resident of Zion, died on Friday, October 20, 2006, at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan. He was born April 7, 1920, in Zion, and married Louise "Sis" Wiskur in July of 1945 in Waukegan. In 1958 he built the home in Zion that he and Sis would reside in the rest of their lives. Don was a member of the Christ Community Church in Zion where he served in set construction for the Passion Play, ushered for church services, and was a member of the Jr. Guard as a youth. He was a former member of the Zion Moose Club. Don retired from NOSCO after a long career. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved gardening, and woodworking. Survivors include his daughter, Jan (David) Keiler of Beach Park, IL, three grandchildren, Cari (Chris) Avila of Zion, IL, Lori (Robert) Dees of Gurnee, IL, and Jeff Keiler of Beach Park, IL; three great-grandchildren, Christopher Avila, and Ryan and Reagan Dees; a sister, Eileen (James) Patterson of WI; a brother, Ted (Liz) Tollefsen of Crystal Lake, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Louise "Sis" Tollefsen, father and mother, Theodore and Bertha Tollefsen and a sister, Marge Duck. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Dr., Zion. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm., Tuesday, until the time of services at the church. A private interment service will be held for the immediate family at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Camp Zion Ministry of the Christ Community Church are suggested.
