Donald Myrum, 88, of East Bend, NC peacefully entered the arms of the Lord on Saturday, November 30, 2024, while surrounded by family at Brighton Gardens in Winston-Salem, NC.
Born on November 10, 1936, in Zion, IL, to Henry Myrum and Beulah Wright Myrum, Don lived a life rooted in faith, family, and quiet strength. Known for his love of reading, gardening, and woodworking, Don poured his heart into every project and every moment. Each morning, he began his day with Scripture, a testament to his unwavering faith.
Don served as a pastor at Beach Bible Church in Beach Park, IL, where he touched countless lives through his compassionate leadership. Later, he became an active and beloved member of Beck’s Baptist Church, where he shared his wisdom and faith as a devoted adult Sunday School teacher for many years.
In addition to his faith, Don embodied a deep, selfless love for his family. He was an extraordinary caretaker to both of his wives, Marlene and Sandra, as they courageously battled debilitating illnesses. With boundless patience and devotion, Don provided them with comfort, strength, and unwavering support during their most difficult times.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marlene Irma Myrum, who was the love of his early years as they built their family together, before she was called home in 1999; his second wife, Sandra King Myrum, was his partner for many adventures including building their dream cabin in Virginia and RV'ing throughout the country; and his beloved sister, Lila Bell.
Don’s memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved him: his daughters, Debbie DuBois (Denis) and Lori Stewart (Rick); his brothers, Rodney Myrum (Marsha) and Dave Myrum; his sister, Nancy Kinsman; his grandchildren, Dustin DuBois (Ashley), Sarah Beam (Nathan), Kayla Hicks (Alan), Michael DuBois (Katie), Amanda Stewart, and Trevor DuBois (Carley); his great-grandchildren, Lucas, Isabelle, Hailey, Micah, Eleanor, Luther, and Dexter.
Don’s life was a beautiful example of faith, humility, and sacrificial love. His gentle spirit, steady guidance, and unwavering devotion to his family and God will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him. He is now reunited with his Savior, but his legacy of love and faith will remain in our hearts forever.
There will be a celebration of Don's life on December 14th at 11AM at The Bridge (3520 21st St - formerly Beach Bible Church) in Zion, IL.
