Donald F. "Spear" Remsgar, 74, of Zion, Illinois, died on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at home following a long battle with cancer.
He was born February 22, 1934 in Waukegan. He served with the United States Army and was stationed in France as a truck driver. Later, he entertained the family with the stories of his adventures. He retired from National Gypsum in Waukegan. He was also an avid motorcycle rider and was one of the founding members of Brothers Rising Motorcycle Club. He will be missed by all, especially the grandchildren who will remember "PaPa" for the tractor rides he gave them. He was always willing to give his children and grandchildren a lesson in the fine art of shooting pool.
Survivors include his wife of forty years, Audrey Gorsuch; children Linda (Steve) Snider of Kenosha, M. Tipton (Diane) Gorsuch of Mundelein, Diane (Jeff) Meyer of McHenry, M. Stanley (Nancy) Gorsuch of Spring Grove, Judy (Harry) Rodriguez of Kenosha, Adam (Robin) Gorsuch of Winthrop Harbor and Matthew (Daniela) Gorsuch of Lake Villa; twenty-nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille English of Mundelein; and four nieces and nephews and sixteen great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, John Gorsuch; and his parents, Frank Remsgar and Lucille Anderson.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 25, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Richard Grudt officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Midwest Palliative & Hospice Care Center, 2050 Claire Court, Glenview, IL 60025 have been suggested.
