Donald Williams

Donald D. Williams, of Waukegan, Illinois passed away September 5, 2024 in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. He was born June 20, 1931 in Rockford, Illinois.

Donald previously lived in Beach Park, Illinois and Long Grove, Illinois. His first job was selling concessions in the stands for the Rockford Peaches Softball Team. Donald also worked as a mechanic at the Lincoln Mercury Garage in Rockford, the pit crew at the Rockford Speedway, and was a welder at the Rockford Sabrook Power Plant. After moving to Zion in 1972, he worked at the Zion Nuclear Power Plant as head of the maintenance department as a welder with 38 certifications. He retired in December of 1989.

 He married Grace Orlando July 5, 1952 in Rockford Illinois. Grace preceded him in death in 1993. He remarried in 2011 to Norma Sherman who also preceded him in death in 2013. Don and Grace were members of the Rockford ING Skating Palace where they Roller Danced in competitions together. Don was a long time member of the Zion Benton Loyal Order of the Moose for which he was very involved. He called bingo there several times a week and held the position as Governor in 1982 and 1983.

Don was an avid bowler in his younger days and enjoyed camping and fishing. He also loved dancing, especially at the ZB Moose and recently at the Antioch Moose where his daughter Pam plays music in the band.

Don is survived by his children Steve Grimm, Pam (Larry) Morrical, Terry (Jacqulyn Harvey) Williams, and Jana (Jim) Jensen; grandchildren, Katrina (Scott) Dorr, Jennifer (Chris Prellwitz) Williams, Jay (Savannah) Morrical, Nicole Gucciardo, and Kara (Josh Ryan) Gucciardo; great grandchildren, Kylie and Kennedy Dorr, Lainey and Natalie Morrical, and Jameson and Benjamin Prellwitz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Dolores Williams; brother, Gerald Williams; and sister, Joan Light.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday October 5, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Antioch Moose Lodge #525, 26020 West Route 173 Antioch, Illinois 60002.
