Dorothea Jenkins

Dorothea A Jenkins (Mulroney) 96, of Gurnee, IL, passed away peacefully on March 21,2021. She was born on June 23, 1924 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Frank (Emma) Mulroney. Dorothea lived in the city just until she was two years old before moving to Waukegan. She graduated High School and attended Immaculate Conception Church and married her husband on June 1, 1946 in Waukegan, IL. She now attends St. Dismas Church in Waukegan, IL. Dorothea worked at Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator and supervisor. She was a devoted mother and left work to raise her four children. She had many hobbies that included; sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles, and gardening. She also enjoyed making canned food for over forty years. If she wasn't inside sewing or reading books you could find her attending to her garden which she loved dearly. The most important time spent though was with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dorothea is survived by her children, Linda Pekkarinen, James (Barbara) H. Jenkins Jr., Kathleen (Kevin) Halligan, Thomas Jenkins; grandchildren, Drew (Amy) Pekkarinen, Dana (Josh) Mendoza, Lauren Jenkins, Amelia Turner, Nicollette Jenkins, Andrea Bailey, Jaclyn Whiteside (Angel Roldan); six great-grandchildren; siblings Patricia Gibbs, James (Pat) Mulroney; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband James H Jenkins Sr; parents; great-grandson Jackson Peter Mendoza; sister Catherine Fratus; brothers Vince Mulroney, Frank Mulroney, George Mulroney, Richard Mulroney; son-in-law Peter Pekkarinen.
