Revis, Dorothy (nee Sweborg), 94, recently of St. Petersburg, FL and formerly of Zion, died Sunday, November 4, 2012 in Nebraska after a brief move. She lived in Zion for most of her married life and moved to Florida in 2008.
She was born September 10, 1918 in Galesburg, IL where she also graduated from high school. She went to Knox College for a secretarial degree. She was married to Charles Revis in Galesburg on October 18, 1941 before moving to Zion where she lived until 2008 when she and Charles moved to Florida to be near their daughter Barbara. She was married for 67 years to Charles until his death in 2008.
Dorothy worked for Zion Industries before becoming a mother to her 2 daughters. She ran the office for the family business, Revis Electric in Zion for many years. She was a member of the Grace Missionary where she could be found every Sunday. When she could no longer go to church, she enjoyed listening to hymns.
She will be missed by her daughters Nancy (Lindey) Kling of Mesa, Arizona and Barbara Sweda of St. Petersburg, Florida; four grandchildren, Cindy (Lee) Eilers, Michelle (Gene) Pumala, Andrew (Sky) Nelson and Rachel Nelson; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her sisters Evelyn Sward and Maurine Blucker, her brother Emery Sweborg and her parents Alma and Ernest Sweborg.
Private arrangements are being made through Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Memorial donations to Grace Missionary Church, 1415 27th St., Zion, Illinois have been suggested.
