Dorothy Pavlik Roy, 82, of Beach Park died February 14, 2008.
Dorothy was born November 13, 1925 in Waukegan, Illinois. She graduated valedictorian of the Class of 1944 from Waukegan High School. She attended the University of Illinois and Iowa State University on scholarship, where she studied Horticulture and Literature.
Dorothy enjoyed playing piano for the USO during World War II. Her passions included her gift of writing, reading, gardening and her family. Her bright and quick mind will always be remembered by those who knew her. She will be greatly missed and loved always.
She is survived by her husband, William Roy; five children, Sallie Boi, Virginia Pearson, William D. Roy, David Roy and Steven Roy; 17 grandchildren; and two sisters, Florence Rush of St. Petersburg, FL, and Virginia Bleck of Beach Park, IL.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, George and Eugenia Pavlik.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Missionary Church, 1415 27th Street, Zion, with Pastor Doug Carlson officiating.
