Earl Milo Tessin (Tess) 80, a resident of Zion/Waukegan for over 50 years, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. He was born April 2nd, 1934 in Caledonia, Minnesota to John and Mary (Davy) Tessin. He was a veteran having served in the US Army during the Korean War. He moved to Illinois in 1958 and worked at Goodyear Rubber and Tire factory in North Chicago for 23 years. After leaving Goodyear, he was self- employed as a general contractor. Earl enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling back to Minnesota to visit family and feeding the deer at Illinois State Beach Park. Earl looked forward to his Friday night dinners for over 20 years with good friend Al Kennedy and his love of Jazz music was shared with his nephew Pete Tessin as they attended various Jazz festivals throughout the years. Earl is survived by 5 sons and a daughter: Robert (Debbie) Spangler of Poynette, Wisconsin, Ken (Rogelie) Spangler of Beach Park, Gwen (Tom) Williams of Waukegan , Brock (Julie) Spangler of Kenosha, Bill (Debbie) Tessin of Zion, Dan (Cyndi) Tessin of Zion, 12 grandchildren: Danielle, Reba, Dawn, Jenny, Brian, Lucas, Breanne, Drew, Joey, Kaitlyn, Jarrod, Zachary and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, 4 brothers, and grandson Caleb Williams. A memorial service will be held on August 1st at St. Patrick's new church, 15000 Wadsworth Road, Wadsworth, Illinois 60083 with visitation from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and mass to follow. A gathering to celebrate Earl's life will be held after the 9:30 a.m. mass at the home of his son Bill, 42577 North Kenosha Road, Zion.
