Earlene Virginia Lonergan, 90, of Zion, IL passed away on October 4, 2022. She was born on August 2, 1932 the daughter of A. Lee Killingsworth, and Aner Mae Scott in Mississippi.
Earlene grew up in Mississippi before settling in Zion where she worked at Abbott for twenty years before she retired. She was a member of Meadow Ridge Baptist church before she fell ill and could no longer attend. Earlene loved to cook a good southern meal, but especially her roast, biscuits, and pecan pie. In her spare time she would sew quilts, work on crossword puzzles, bowl, or go to the casino. She was a generous person and her biggest love was for her family and grandchildren.
Earlene is survived by her three sons, Jack (Cheryl) Barnes, Rickie (Carolyn) Barnes, Terry (Pat) Barnes; four grandchildren Jennifer (Christopher) Beyer, Robbie (Shay) Barnes, Tera Barnes, Amy (Jesse) Moore; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Drew, Olivia, Wyatt, Corbin, Kyleigh; and one great- great grandchild on the way; brother, Bob Killingsworth; special family member who was like a daughter, Wendi Barnes; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband George Lonergan; grandson Rodney D. Barnes; brother Gilbert Killingsworth.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd, Zion, IL 60099. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, IL.
