Edgar "Ed" McShane, 84, of Waukegan, IL went to his Eternal Home on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Lake Forest Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Ed was born on December 22, 1930 in Waukegan, IL and graduated from Waukegan Twp. High School in 1949. On June 22, 1951, Ed married Betty Riehl of Zion. Ed also graduated from the Rochester New York Institute of Photo Finishing. He retired as Supervisor of the Great Lakes Navy Exchange Photo Lab on July 1, 1996. Ed also graduated from the Rochester New York Institute of Photo Finishing. He became the first recipient of the NAVAL RESALE SYSTEM Worldwide Associate of the Year award in 1985. Ed was President of the Lake County Art League in 1990 and 1991. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Zion.
Ed was very artistic and creative. He was an award-winning photographer of nature and landscapes primarily in Door County, Wisconsin. His other interests included reading, American Civil War history, trains, teaching Sunday School, sponsoring Church Youth Fellowships, music, playing the tenor saxophone, camping in Door County and exhibiting his photographs at art festivals in Illinois and Wisconsin.
Ed was a loving husband, caring father, kind, well-liked and always had a word of thanks. Also, if anything needed "fixing," he found a way.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty; son, Lawrence "Larry" McShane of Waukegan, IL; first cousin, Joan (Herman) Mullejans of Waukegan, IL; brother-in-law Roger (Caroline) Riehl of Port St. Lucie, Florida; cousins, nieces, nephews and other family. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Edgar and Dorothy McShane of Waukegan.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church, 2935 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL with the Rev. Kwadwo Ntim officiating. Interment will follow at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, IL. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the service begins at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Memorial United Methodist Church of Zion.
