Edith Weyenberg 99,passed away on March 21, 2021 at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion, IL. She went to Jesus who she served faithfully since she was fifteen years old. She was born on May 14, 1921 in Milwaukee, WI the daughter of James (Edith Elleson) Murray.
Edith began her long career of studying and teaching the bible at age fifteen at Full Gospel Tabernancle in Milwaukee. Other places she taught God’s word: Penial Tabernanacle in Kenosha, her and husband Louis were Missionaries to the Lac Court Oreilles Indians in Stone Lake, WI where she taught both in the church and College on the Indian Reservation. She taught Faith Home Trainees and the young people attending the Faith Home from 1970-1980. She was ordained a minister in 1983. She taught in Kaimosi Bible College, Kenya East Africa from 1986-1990; again for three and a half months in 1995. She was a volunteer Chaplin for the Cancer Treatment Center of America 1992-2000. At this time, she also taught young adult Sunday school at the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Waukegan. For a time, she taught once a month in Marilyn’s home at a Ladies Bible study. Edith did volunteer work for Crossroad Bible Institute that Chuck Colson founded for prisoner: In November of 2010 she received a certificate of appreciation for being a devoted instructor. The president said, “CBI students rarely receive this kind of encouragement and support.” For many years Edith’s home church was the Zion Faith Homes.
Edith is survived by daughters, Marilyn ( Arne) Hamalainen, Judy (Herb) Ehnert; grandchildren, Kristel Wilkins, Greg (Melanie) Hamalainen, Robert (Colleen) Kenneth Garnett, Barbara (Jeff) Rochelle Sage; great-grandchildren, Krystal, Jerry, Teagan, Aiden, Bryant, Donnie (Tiana) Garnett, Kevin (Tabitha) Garnett, Stevie (Collin) Bagnaud, Haley (Daniel) Morris; many great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, loving Carol Innes, and many dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Louis; infant son Daniel; parents; five brothers, Harold, Harry, Melvin, Bill, and James; and grandson in law Bob.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 10:00-11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Faith Home located at 2820 Eshcol Ave Zion, IL 60099. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Zion, IL.
