Edward A.C. Streed, 90, of Waukegan, IL passed away peacefully on May 28, 2018.
Edward was born in Waukegan, IL on May 17, 1928, the son of Edwin and Elizabeth Streed. He attended Glen Flora Elementary School and Waukegan Township High School before earning his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois. In 1957, Edward married Mary Frances Patterson in Indianapolis. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Waukegan and worked for the Lake County Highway Department for 32 years, 12 of which he was Superintendent. Edward proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a meteorologist in Alaska, and retired with the rank of Major. His pastimes included playing golf at Bonnie Brook Golf Course, handball at the YMCA, and amateur photography. He loved spending time with his grandchildren; his family was his greatest joy in life.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Fran; children, Karen Streed, Laurie (Daniel) Coad, Sara (Jeff) Dick, and Jim (Chris) Streed; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jack Patterson and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Klema.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., with the service immediately following at First United Methodist Church, 128 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Waukegan, IL 60085, Rev. Dr. Cecelia Harris, officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the church’s music program.
