Edwin J. Ellis

Edwin J. Ellis, 81, of Beach Park, IL died Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at home with his family by his side. He was born November 7, 1934 in Augusta ME where he attended Cony High School. Edwin was stationed at Naval Station Great Lakes in North Chicago, IL where he met and married the love of his life, Jacqueline Murphy. They were married for 59 years. They lived in the Zion area where Edwin worked as an electrician and was a union member of IBEW Local 150. After retirement, they moved to Coloma, WI. Edwin was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He loved spending time with family and grandkids. Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline; 4 children, Diane (Randall) Aiken, Laronda (Mark) Haines, Cindy Whitmore, and Dora (Bryan) Burger; 13 grandchildren, Leah (Royce) Wadsworth, Randall (Ann) Aiken Jr., Michael (Amy) Aiken, Angela (Roy) Prifogle, Jeremy Aiken, Jennifer Aiken, Jessica (Kyle) Freeman, Christina (Ilian) Stefanov, Tesa Haines, Michael (Karissa) Whitmore, Marcus Whitmore, Mandi (Josh) Parks and Evan (Migdalia) Aguirre; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Ellis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernerd and Constance Ellis; brother, Bernerd Ellis Jr.; and son-in-law, Randall Aiken. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Friends may greet the family from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Heart Association has been suggested.
