Edwin A. Marsh, 91 of Beach Park, IL, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at his home surrounded by his wife and family.
Edwin was born September 21, 1919 in Aitkin, MN. He served with the United States Army during World War II. Edwin married his sweetheart Hope Swanson on May 19, 1945 in Aitkin, MN. He was a Dairy Farmer in Minnesota for several years. He and Hope moved to northern Illinois in 1955. Edwin and his brother Harold founded Marsh Bros. Construction Co. with a speciality in custom homes. His love for the outdoors was expressed in motorcycling, ice fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and traveling in his motor home. He was a former Deacon at Calvary Temple Church in Waukegan. A current member at Trinity Christian Center in Zion. Edwin loved reading God's Word and was a consistent man of prayer for his family and his church.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Hope; six daughters, Sharon (Dennis) Goeske of Gurnee, IL, Paulette (Howard) Hinnenkamp of Princeton, MN, Joanne (Jerry) Peterson of Great Falls, Montana, Jeanne (Gregory) Scholl of Palmetto, FL, Susan (Hollis) Henley of Grand Ledge, MI, and Joy (Hank) Whinery of Wells, MN; seventeen grandchildren, David, Beth, Lisa, Adam, Samuel, Heather, Jaimie, April, Angela, Rebecca, Melissa, Brian, Kristine, Michael, Timothy, Christopher, and Allison; numerous nieces and nephews and other family.
Edwin was preceded in death by his father and mother, Winifred and Rose Marsh; brothers, Harold and Vern Marsh; sisters, May Woolery, Ina Travis, and Helen Eld; and granddaughter, Kimberly (Peterson) Kopp.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Christian Center, 2600 Lewis Ave., Zion, IL. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 16, 2011, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL.
