Eileen Rose Czarny, 61, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, formerly of Zion, IL, died on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at Glenbrook Hospital, Glenview, IL, after a life-long battle with diabetes.
Eileen was born March 5, 1949, in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland. She proudly co-owned Czarny's Harbor Lights Restaurant and Lounge in Winthrop Harbor from 1989-1994 with her late husband, Edmund. Her work history also included employment with Carson Pirie Scott in Waukegan and Vernon Hills, and a thorough enjoyment of selling Avon products most of her adult life. Eileen was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church in Beach Park, IL. She loved traveling to Las Vegas with her daughter and best friend, Stephie. Other talents were cooking and crocheting. Finally, she really enjoyed the company of her dogs in her life, Shadow and Chloe.
Survivors include her daughter, Theresa (Dennis) Czarny-Holden of Zion, IL; mother, Marie Cronin of Kenosha, WI; brother, Michael Cronin of Kenosha, WI; beloved brother, Dennis (Annette) Cronin Sr. of Gurnee, IL; sisters, Julie (Michael) Grobschmidt of South Milwaukee, WI, and Maureen (Alex) Grezenko of San Pierre, IN; numerous nieces and nephews and other family in County Kerry, Ireland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund Czarny; father, Patrick Cronin; and sister, Marie Therese Cronin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park, IL. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Friday, September 17, 2010, form 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL.
