Elda E. St. Denis, age 91 of Beach Park, IL, passed away on March 22, 2018 in Union Grove, WI.
She was born on July 9, 1926 in Lake Park, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Oscar and Anna Braseth. She married Alton M. Sanstad, Sr in August of 1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Elda worked as a Nursing Aide at the North Chicago VA Hospital for 25 years. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waukegan, IL and was also a member of the VFW.
Surviving Elda are her children Patricia (William) Smith and Constance Preder of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Alton M. (Judy) Sanstad, Jr of Geneva, IL, Andrea K. (Marvin) Fort of Lake Villa, IL; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Elda was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Alton M. Sanstad, Sr, Clarence Johnston, Carlton St. Denis, her son Steven Sanstad, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL from 4:00 p.m. until time of service at 6:00 p.m.. Interment will be held at Northshore Garden of Memories Cemetery 1801 Green Bay Rd, North Chicago, IL on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m..
