Elinor Ruth Ostrander, 94, of Gurnee, IL died on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at The Grove at the Lake Nursing Home in Zion.
Elinor was born September 9, 1922 in Zion, IL. She attended Zion Grade Schools, graduated from Waukegan Township High School, and lived in Waukegan her entire adult life, moving to Gurnee three years ago. She and her husband, the late Robert Ostrander, owned and operated Crystal Greetings in Waukegan. After retiring, Elinor managed Greenwood Pastry in Waukegan. Both she and her husband were avid golfers and were longtime active members of Glen Flora Country Club.
Survivors include her two children William (Carol) Ostrander of Crystal Lake, IL, and Patrick (Donna) Ostrander of Winthrop Harbor, IL; nine grandchildren Ann Ostrander, Jennifer Stockton, Leigh Ostrander, Matthew Ostrander, Stephanie Bauer, Valerie Proctor, Eric Ostrander, Robert Ostrander, and Hannah Ostrander; six great-grandchildren Lexi McGruder, Jasmine Stockton, Ellie Proctor, Olivia Proctor, Stephen Crane, and Kaylie Crane; one brother Robert (Joan) Biastock of Mountain Home, AK; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ostrander; one son Donald Ostrander; one brother Milton Biastock; one sister Dorothy McElroy; and her parents Henry and Verna Biastock.
A cemetery graveside service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at Pineview Cemetery, Beach Road, Beach Park, IL. Memorial donations to First United Methodist Church, 128 N Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Waukegan, IL have been suggested.
