Elizabeth Rose Conrad, of Zion, IL, formerly of Waukegan, IL, died on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Rolling Hills Manor, Zion, IL.
She was born February 1, 1922, in Austria and later moved with her parents to Chicago. In 1952 her family moved to Waukegan. Elizabeth was a primary teach at Oakdale School in Waukegan until her retirement from Waukegan District 60. A long time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Elizabeth belonged to Esther Circle. She hosted many Christmas meetings at her home where she displayed her Christmas decorations, teddy bear collection and electric train. Elizabeth, a student of Laini Zinn, was a gifted watercolorist. She loved many dogs in her life, especially the last, "Grilie."
Elizabeth is survived by a close caretaker of many years, Susan (Kenneth) Bergquist of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Rainer and Erica Husty of Austria. Her parents, Rose and Einar Conrad, preceded her in death.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 824 N. Lewis Ave., Waukegan, IL. Interment will follow at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, IL. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The Bergquists wish to thank nurse, Phyllis Evans of the 400 Hall at Rolling Hills Manor for her care of Elizabeth.
