Ellen Christine Barron

1921 — July 20, 2021

Ellen Christine Barron (nee' Swanson) Ellen, born in Waukegan on April 21, 1921, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. Earlier this year, her 100th birthday was marked with a family celebration including an award from the city of Waukegan for being a lifetime resident. From youth she enjoyed serving in the church, was a GSO (Girls Service Organization) member during WWII and was a spotter for enemy planes in Waukegan. She was a Charter member of Waukegan Bonnie Brook Baptist Church and later a member at Zion Christ Community Church. Ellen is known for being a woman of God first, and for her love and loyalty to family and friends. She will be sorely missed by everyone that had the privilege to know her as she always had a smile on her face, a song on her lips, a positive outlook, and a warm sense of humor. Ellen was preceded in death by her mother and father (Hilda and Daniel Swanson, both Swedish emigrants), two brothers (Gus and Emil Swanson), her loving husband (Joseph Barron), two sons (Daniel and Robert Barron), one grandson (Michael Barron), and one great grandson (Jackson Eid). Ellen is survived by her daughter Joan (Timothy) Glover, her son Ken (Julie) Barron, and her daughter Karen (Larry) Larson, grandchildren Matthew (Kathy) Glover, Amy Glover, Joey Barron, Dave (Peg) Larson, Melissa (Wenzel) Pruitt, Selena (Danielo) Cruz, Mandy Barron, Nathan Barron, Lisa (Nick) Larson-Bunnell, and John (Sujey) Barron, 19 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren and was a beloved "Antie" to many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to gratefully thank all those who cared for and loved her. She enjoyed your visits, flowers, gifts, music, conversation and compassionate care. She always looked forward to being with family, friends and care givers. Visitation is at 10 am with a service following at 11 am at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, Illinois 60099.
