Ellen Buntrock

Ellen Marjorie Buntrock (nee Schleter) entered heaven's gates at the age of 95 on November 24th, 2018.

Ellen was born on December 9th,1922 to Emil and Edna Schleter in Zion, IL. She was the youngest of five children.

She met her husband Paul David Julius Buntrock while they were both employed at US Steel Cyclone Fence. Paul and Ellen were united in marriage on July 12, 1947.  She served her church community that she dearly treasured at Christian Catholic Church in Zion, IL. Over many years she was a Sunday School teacher, devoted to Camp Zion ministry, part of the cast for the annual Passion Play, and created the church library.

Her talents and recreational interests included family camping trips, garden club, quilting, baking, knitting, and teaching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren each and every one of her hobbies.  Ellen especially loved to share stories and family history, including passing down many history lessons of the Camp Zion legacy that her father and husband were both on the construction crew.

She is survived by her three children, Lynda (Tom) Rice, Loren (Christy) Buntrock, and Gordon (Kathy) Buntrock; grandchildren, Teresa (John) Shemitis, Jolyn (Rocky) Baldry, Sharon (Rob) Keefe, Holly (Tim) Heeter, Heidi (Bill) Anderson, and Brett (Danielle) Buntrock; great-grandchildren, Noah, Hannah, Elijah, Lydia, Andrew, Bridget, John, Margo, Joy, Taryn, Peter, Katie, Finn and Llewelyn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Buntrock; brother Everett Schleter; sister, Irene Hanni; sister Ruth Dunnick; brother, Robert Schleter; and granddaughter, Heather Joy Buntrock.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Dr., Zion, IL. Pastor Ken Langley will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. Memorial donations to Camp Zion would greatly be appreciated.
