Ellen E. Lohr-Herman (nee Stonelake), 96, of Zion, IL died October 16, 2016 at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion. Ellen was born January 11, 1920 in Menahga, MN. She worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company and then later worked for Warwick Electronics. During WWII, she met and married Donald Lohr. They were wed for 42 years and had 2 children, Dr. Dennis Lohr of Honolulu HI and a daughter, Diane Lohr-Patterson of San Diego, CA. Later she married a dear friend, Harry Herman and they had many happy years together until his death. Ellen was a member of Women’s Republican Club of Benton Township and Dunesland Garden Club and enjoyed gardening, bird watching and traveling. Survivors include her children, Dennis (Nita) Lohr of Honolulu HI, and Diane Patterson of San Diego, CA; brother, Marvin (Jeanine) Stonelake of Homer Glen, IL; brother-in-law, Herbert Pikka of Wakefield, MI and other dear family members. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Lohr and Harry Herman; siblings, Raymond (Lois) Stonelake, Janet Stonelake, Harvey (Phyllis) Stonelake, John (Barbara) Stonelake, and Betty Pikka. A visitation will take place Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Interment will take place on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, 1436 Kenosha Rd., Zion, IL.
