Ellen Anglada Matthews was born July 25, 1929. She married Roy Anglada August 16, 1947 after he returned from the Army in WWII. They lived in Beach Park, Illinois for many years before semi retiring to Florida. Ellen and Roy had four daughters: Linda (Robert) Christman, Judy (Jerry) Hawn, Jill (David) LaBelle, Paula (David) Donna. They loved their 8 grandchildren: Roy Ames, Kristin Wright, Cheri Romanczak, Stacey Wright, Josh Hawn, Elizabeth Donna Festin, Tony Donna and Lauren Donna Baregi. They loved their 15 great grandchildren: Trentin, Brennin, and Makara Heiny, Scott and Raegan Ames, Lindsay Romanczak, Jackson, Aidan and Jonah Hawn, Wyatt and Henry Festin, Peyton and Jameson Baregi, Mason and Adelyn Donna. Mom graduated from Waukegan High School and was a stay at home Mom for 20 years. She then became a secretary at Bausch & Lomb. Mom and Dad retired and enjoyed life in Florida. Ellen lost her loving husband, Roy, when he died August 25, 1991. Ellen made Jesus the Lord of her life while attending church and Bible study in Florida. She also became a volunteer at the church’s Christian Bookstore.Ellen met Roy Matthews while attending the same church. She married Roy Matthews June 27, 1997 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The Matthews moved into the Air Force’s Bob Hope Village in Shalimar, Florida.Ellen’s second Roy sadly passed away on November 3, 2014. On July 25, 2019 our large family gathered in Shalimar to celebrate Mom’s 90th birthday. After living warmly in Florida until 2021 Ellen moved back to chilly Illinois. Mom spent her last months visiting with us and passed away at 92 on January 12, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and James Jellings, her brother, Dayle Jellings, her sister, Babe Gould, and her son-In-law Wendell Wright. She will be laid to rest at North Shore Garden of Memories in North Chicago, Il. next to her husband Roy Anglada. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Ellen’s son-in-law, Jerry Hawn, will be officiating and give the eulogy. Honorary pallbearers will be Ellen’s grandsons: Roy Ames, Josh Hawn, Tony Donna, Trentin Heiny, Brennin Heiny, and Jackson Hawn. “The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the Name of the Lord be praised.” Job 1:21
