Elvira McDade Farris, 79, of Zion, IL, died on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, IL.
Elvira was born February 20, 1932, in Athens, Alabama, and has resided in Zion since 1964. She was a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Zion, where she served as a member of the Mother's Board.
Survivors include six children, Carl (Joann) Farris and Larry (Pam) Farris, of Allendale, SC, Bradford Farris of Barnwell, SC, G. Reginald (Vanessa) Farris of Dallas, TX, Antonio Farris of TX, and Roy (Nichole) Farris of Waukegan, IL; twenty-nine grandchildren; fifty-nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Jessie Hill of Saginaw, MI, Earline Cannon of Cleveland, OH, and Josephine Smith of Athens, AL; a host of special nieces, nephews, and beloved friends, including, Mandly (Robert) Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Josephine McDade; brothers, Knox and George McDade; sisters, Sadie McDade and Augusta McDade Butler; and son, Winford McDade.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 20, 2011, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 3109 Gilead, Zion, IL. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL.
