Emma Corcoran

Emma Mae Corcoran (McIntire) was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on July 8, 1922. She passed away on November 16, 2014. She retired from the Veterans Administration (VA) in North Chicago, IL and returned there as a volunteer for more than 10 years. She was a member of the Zion Benton Moose Club for more than 50 years and a member of the VFW. She was active with the Socialites, met on a regular basis with the VA retiree lunch group. Every Friday was breakfast with the Friday morning breakfast group. While living at Zion Senior Cottages, she started a monthly lunch gathering. They met at various restaurants in the area and always had a good time. She was a giving, loving, caring woman who always thought of others. She was a wonderful baker. Her social calendar was always full. She was an amazing mom and grandma. She was an independent strong woman before it was even popular. She loved and cared for her family very much. She is survived by her daughters Dawn Agosta, Melody (Sonny) Dailey, Pam (Wilbur) Buckle, Tami Glithero and Lori (Joe) Streeter. She is survived by 18 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 16 great, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many great friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, two sons, two grandsons, one granddaughter and one great grandson. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends. A service will be held at the Zion Benton Moose Club, 41517 N Sheridan Rd, Zion, IL on Saturday, 22 November 2014 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VA North Chicago, Mooseheart, C.O.O.L Food Pantry or Midwest Palliative & Hospice Care Center Glenview, IL.
