Erma Ruth Turunen

Erma Ruth Turunen, 97, passed away on March 27, 2024 in Salem Lakes, Wisconsin surrounded by her loved ones.

Erma was born on March 5, 1927 in Escanaba, Michigan the daughter of Albert and Stella (Johnson) Norden.  Erma graduated from Rock High School and worked as a cashier at the Co-op in Rock, Michigan before moving to Waukegan where she resided for over 50 years. She married her late husband Otto Turunen on October 1, 1949. Erma had a large circle of friends, who she enjoyed spending time with, but most importantly her family.

Erma is survived by her children, Dwain (Renate) Turunen, Sue (Steve) Bolton; grandchildren, Sheila Turunen, Alyssa Krygowski, Sara Schawel, Stacey Dodge, Kelly Bolton, Carly Breen, Megan Breen; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Lois Curtis, and Sandra Carlson.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Otto Turunen; and daughter Kris Conaway.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at, Trinity United Lutheran Church, 658 Grand Ave., Waukegan, Illinois 60085.
