Eugene Charles Mifflin, 83, of Zion, Illinois, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, surrounded by his family.
Eugene was born August 16, 1926 in Zion. He served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946. Eugene served for eleven years as a Missionary in Africa and worked as an Interim Pastor, was an electrician by trade and was a member of Zion Faith Homes. He was a kind, warm, selfless servant with a heart for his Lord.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Juneve; two sons, Ken Mifflin of Wheatland, Wisconsin and Paul (Kathy) Mifflin of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin; one daughter, Annette (Rob) Bernheisel of Macomb, Illinois; a son-in-law, Tawfik Khbeis of Renton, Washington; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Mifflin of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; eight grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Khbeis, David Khbeis, Eric Mifflin, Ashley Mifflin, Robert Bernheisel, Regina Bernheisel, Trevor Mifflin and Connor Mifflin; one great-granddaughter, Madison Khbeis; and one sister, Dorothy Wright of Beach Park, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Joan Khbeis; one son, Mark Mifflin; three sisters, Margaret Mifflin, Jessie Mifflin and Charlotte Mifflin; one brother, Edward Mifflin; a brother-in-law, Philip Wright; and his parents, Charles and Annasie Mifflin.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 11, 2010, from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Pastor David Leopold of Zion Faith Homes officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
