Evelyn was born on June 3rd, 1924 in Waukegan, IL, and lived in the area her entire life. She graduated Salutatorian from Zion Benton High School in 1943, where she received numerous honors including the DAR Good Citizenship Award. She was the assistant editor of the high school yearbook and a member of the History Club and the Commercial Club. She married Harold H Haas in 1943, while he served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Evelyn was the last surviving charter member of the First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor, IL, where she taught Sunday School for 40 years, which she dearly loved.  She was also active in Women’s Missions Ministries. She was a steadfast prayer warrior and was beloved by her church family. Her commitment to encouraging others in the Lord was her focus in life and the number of lives who have been touched by her kindness is too great to measure.  One of her favorite scriptures is Proverbs 3, 5-6, which is only one of the countless passages that are underlined in her well-used Bible. She will be profoundly missed.
