Fidelia Ponce (nee Rodriguez), 74, of Zion, IL died on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Centegra Hospital in McHenry, IL.
Fidelia was born April 24, 1937 in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, moving to Chicago in 1961 and to Zion in 1971. She had been employed at Cherry Electric in Waukegan. Fidelia was an avid die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include her children Carlos Ponce of Chicago, IL, Luis Ponce of Rockford, IL, Mercedes (Milton) Melendez of Round Lake Park, IL, Enriqueta (Thomas) Frost of Elk Grove Village, IL, Roy (Phyllis) Ponce of Zion, IL, and Lily (John) Pennell of Lake Villa, IL; eleven grandchildren Sonya (Luke) Dowd, Timothy (Jennifer) Jones, Melissa (Kevin) Robson, John (Catherine) Pennell, Samantha Frost, Kimberly Ponce, Krystle Ponce, Kacey Ponce, Travis Ponce, Stephanie Ponce, and P.J. Ponce; and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carlos in 1996; two sons Paul Ponce and Richard Ponce both in 2001; and her parents.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 1, 2012, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m., Pastor John Pennell, her son-in-law, officiating. Entombment services will be at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Cemetery Chapel. Memorial donations to Love In The Name Of Christ (Love Inc of Lake County) has been suggested.
