Florence I. Granstrom of Zion, IL, passed away August 8, 2013.
Florence was born August 29, 1918 in Chicago, IL then moved to Zion where she became a life long resident. She attended Zion parochial schools, took three years of night classes in Kenosha, WI and also attended the University of Wisconsin for extension courses. Florence was employed for 14 years at Fieldcrest Mills, a division of Marshall Field & Company. She was the assistant supervisor in the civilian disbursing office in the naval supply depot at Great Lakes Naval Base. She then became executive secretary to James Davis, owner of Heins Department Store, and trustee of company profit sharing funds. She retired from Charles Munder Company where she had been comptroller and office manager for 15 years.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Sarann Granstrom (Ronald decd) of Gurnee, IL; grandchildren, Laurie (Gary) Bartousek of Winthrop Harbor and Lynn (Don Salamanca) Granstrom of Gurnee, IL; 3 great-grandchildren, Chelsea Eidbo, Suzie Eidbo, and Mia Salamanca, all of Gurnee, IL.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, George H. Granstrom; step-son, Ronald Granstrom, parents, Max and Anna Schmidt; 3 brothers, George (Edna), Roy (Josephine) and William Schmidt.
Services will be private for the family. Final resting place will be at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Anti-Cruelty Society or to the Special Olympics.
