Florence Ellen Spohr (nee Klawonn), 87, of Pleasant Prairie, WI and formerly of Zion and Winthrop Harbor, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, November 18, 2011 at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha.
Florence was born May 13, 1924 in Zion. She was a Veteran of World War II having served with the Army Air Force. She was an active member of Christ Community Church of Zion where she served as communion assistant and did sewing for the Zion Passion Play. She worked for the Zion Industries and retired from Fansteel Corp in North Chicago. Florence was also an active member of Zion-Benton American Legion Post #865 and she enjoyed roller skating.
Survivors include her children Robert (Dora) Spohr of Florence, AL, Charlene Mares of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Karla (Tim) Jacobs of Athens, AL, Carl (Molly) Spohr of Honea Path, SC, and Ed (Kelly) Spohr of Zion, IL; three step-children Tom Patmor of AK, Patricia Patmor of FL, and Gary (Wanda) Patmor of FL; sixteen grandchildren Dana (Mark) Williamson, John (Brandee) Spohr, Jim (Christy) Mares, Bill (Kris) Mares, Glenn Jacobs, Sarah Jacobs, Carrie (Todd) Huettl, Christine Jacobs, Jason Jacobs, Melissa Acheson, Niccole Simmons, Carley (Eric) Serbedzija, Tricia Gill, Nicole Gill, Nicholas (Ashley) Spohr, and Samantha Spohr; two step-grandchildren Morgan Patmor and Eric (Jamie) Patmor; twenty great-grandchildren; one brother Carl (Dottie) Klawonn of Pleasant Prairie, WI; two sisters Byrdine (Rich) Storey of Zion and Loretta (Roy) Richards of Naples, FL; and one sister-in-law Peggy Miller of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her fiancé Johnny Connell who was killed during World War II; her husband William Spohr in 1985; her second husband Bill Patmor; one infant son; five infant grandchildren; one brother Robert Klawonn; one sister Elizabeth (Roy) Maynard; three sisters-in-law; one nephew Roger Maynard; various aunts and uncles; and her father and mother Leonard and Beulah Klawonn.
Visitation will be Friday, November 25, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Jon Wiziarde officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to either Christ Community Church or Camp Zion have been suggested.
