Francis Oskar Hanson, 93, of Pleasant Prairie, WI, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2009, in Kenosha, WI. Francis was born March 12, 1916, in Necedah, WI, to the late Olga and Martin Hanson. He was a farmer who served in combat in World War II in the Pacific Theater with the United States Army. Francis married Gertrude Sparks on November 22, 1951, and lived in Zion, IL, for over 50 years, retiring from US Steel in 1978. He was a jack-of-all trades and enjoyed working on cars and keeping bees. Francis was passionate about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others and was always helping people with a need! Above all, Francis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend who will be missed dearly by all. Survivors include his wife Gertrude; children, Ellen (Larry) LaBelle, Mina (John) Pleuss, Deborah (John) Potocek, Wayne (Jeannie) Hanson, Jane (Paul) DeCesaro, and Rob (Laura) Hanson; grandchildren, Dennis (Leah) LaBelle, Darrin (Sarah) LaBelle, John Dean Pleuss, Michelle (David) Jones, Kristina (Tim) Jones, Erik Hanson, Laura (Chad) Freund, David Potocek, Joshua (Kolleen) Huster , Ryan (Casey) Huster, Nikki Huster, Danielle Huster, Brian DeCesaro, Amanda DeCesaro, Dani DeCesaro, Jayson DeCesaro.; great-grandchildren, Brice, Logan, Noah, Kendra, Allie, Asher, Cassie, Courtney, and Andrew; daughter-in-law, Sharon Hanson; and all brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. Francis is preceded in death by his son Ralph and 10 brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Jim Streigler of Immanuel Baptist Church of Kenosha will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations are suggested to a charity of your choice.
